This aquaculture lease and license is located in the southern corner of Coulter Bay, on the west side of Cortes Island. Coulter Island sits at the mouth of the bay. This is a beach lease 1.2 hectares (2.96 acres) in size and the lease is in place until Jan 15, 2024. The aquaculture license permits Pacific oyster and clam culture. This is an actively operating lease and present inventory includes a modest complement of both products. The aquaculture license is in place to April 30, 2025. This location has the benefit of road access as well as being accessible by boat. Access to Cortes Island is a 45-minute trip via regularly scheduled ferry service from Heriot Bay on Quadra Island. Quadra Island is a short 10-minute ferry ride from Campbell River. During the summer months there is also regular float plane service from Vancouver and Seattle directly into Cortes Bay.
